Problem with banner

Hello guys. Ive made a banner for my website with photoshop that is a GIF file. If you go to my website you can see the problem right away. The edges on the squares are white.

My question, is this a problem in the theme editor or anything else. Or is this some fault at my side?

I do have to say if i put this image as a png, the white corners are gone. So i dont know where the problem is coming from. Hopefully some photoshop experts on this forum if the problem seems to be at my side
